At-Risk Species of New Jersey
Whether due to commercial development, climate change, or other disruptions of natural ecosystems, humans are leading to the decline of species all over the world. This series showcases New Jersey plants and animals that are heavily impacted by these disruptions but are not protected under federal or state regulations (as of January, 2021). Additionally, the U.S. Endangered Species List is often sparsely updated, politically influenced, and biased towards species that are publicly appreciated. By showcasing individual species, I hope to raise awareness of the environments which host native plants and animals in New Jersey that need protective measures if the species are to continue to survive.
Monthly Challenges
#SciArtSeptember is an annual series of daily drawing prompts for the month of September relating to scientific illustration. These are not meant to be final works of art, but rather studies of form, chances to learn about about a variety of species, and being able to create a habit of drawing every day.
